Macromedia Flash Player - safe to install?

HC> Whilst accessing regularly used (and trusted by me) website, I keep getting a bar flashing at the top of the screen suggesting I download "Macromedia Flash 7 (Active X controls)". Should I install this please and if not how can I prevent this bar flashing every occasion I go to a new website?

YB: Yes, you certainly can install it. There's no danger and the Flash player will only add functionality to your browsing experience.
