Editing HOSTS file

PH: Is it easy to uninstall HOSTS file (or the changes it makes to the host file)?

YB: Yes, it's just an ordinary file, so you can open it in Notepad and delete whatever was put in there and restore it
back to it's original state.

PH: Is it possible to "allow" a site that HOSTS file otherwise blocks? E.g. to allow Google ads?

YB: As mentioned above, since it can be edited with Notepad, you can open it up and search (Ctrl+F) for "google" and you'll find all the entries associated with google's advertising.

YB: Then all you have to do is put a hash (#) in front of the entries you want enabled and it will be ignored as if you had completely deleted it.

Hope that helps,

Yvan
